Position: Senior Accountant

Location: Houston, TX – Spring Branch East – Near Ikea – Hybrid

Job Summary: We are seeking a Senior Accountant in a multi-subsidiary environment. Our new team member should have a desire to help the organization make critical financial decisions by timely and accurately verifying and recording transactions as well as analyzing and reconciling datasets. The ideal candidate will be able to handle a high volume of transactions across all areas of accounting for multiple companies. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with accounting knowledge that looks forward to working on a small team that has a large impact.

Key Responsibilities:

• Transaction Management: Process high-volume transactions across multiple areas of accounting, including general ledger, payroll, bank, fixed assets, loans, and more.
• Data Integrity: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data through meticulous data entry, validation, and reconciliation processes.
• Month-End Closing: Contribute to the month-end and year-end closing processes by performing reconciliations, allocations, and journal entries.
• Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth variance analysis and trend analysis. Provide insights into variances for operational management upon request. Must be comfortable with discussing complex issues or analysis with operational management by breaking complex data into summary level for analysis. 
• Fixed Assets: Processing of capitalizations, disposals, depreciation runs, and occasional transfers for an equipment rental subsidiary.
• Leases: Manage and maintain lease records and classifications in the lease software CrunchAFI. Most leases are simple equipment leases and property.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operational management, AP, AR, and executive management, to provide data to support strategic decision-making. Collaborate with various departments to gather financial data and ensure accurate reporting.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy in transaction processing. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements. For example, we will be implementing a new inventory system for a subsidiary in Q4. 

· Advanced Excel Utilization: Leverage advanced Excel functions (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, etc.) to analyze and transform financial data and create templates for JE loads.

· Problem Solving: Analyze complex financial discrepancies and challenges and develop solutions to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting.
• In-depth knowledge of GAAP and financial regulations.
• Proficiency in using accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Must be comfortable with large data sets.
• NetSuite experience preferred.
• Adaptability is required as priorities change daily.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to collaborate with all levels within the various companies.
• High degree of integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information.
• Interest in helping create brand new inventory system from the ground up.
