Job Function – 

Assists with the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of various human resource functions and staff for an assigned regional area. This includes but is not limited to such functions such as Employee Relations, Recruiting, Payroll, Benefits, and Training and employee services personally or through subordinates. Works closely with other Regional HR teams to ensure consistency and a positive employee experience across all locations. Reports directly to the Chief Human Resource Officer.

 

 

Job Responsibilities – 

 

Communicates regularly with management and staff regarding various human resources issues, making recommendations for improvement of policies, procedures and practices.

 

Manages assigned staff located within the region by providing direction, support and regular communication.

 

Assists with developing and maintaining the HRIS system that meets the bank’s needs.

 

Supports the analysis, maintenance, and communication of records required by law, local governing bodies, or other departments in the organization.

 

Collaborates with managers and employees regarding employee relations matters such as grievances and progressive discipline.

 

Studies legislation to assess industry trends and produces/delivers presentations regarding human resources policies and practices.

 

Responds to employee questions and concerns, and escalates complex issues as needed.

 

Participates in HR team meetings and shares regional insights and feedback.

 

Consults legal counsel as necessary to ensure that all polices comply with federal and state laws. Ensures department compliance with Sarbanes Oxley.

 

Serves as a member of various committees as assigned.

 

Ensures that own work is in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and guidelines.

 

Other duties as assigned may include but not be limited to: compiling year-end regulatory reporting data, assisting with employee investigations, representing the Bank at unemployment hearings, handling workers compensation claims, and serving as point of contact to various human resource related vendors.

 

Education and Related Experience – 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or business related field or equivalent work experience required. 
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • 7+ years’ experience gained through increasingly responsible management positions within Human Resources required.
  • SPHR or PHR preferred.

 

Skills and Abilities – 

  • Must possess broad knowledge of all Human Resourced disciplines to include employment, compensation, labor relations, payroll, benefits, and training required.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and management skills with the ability to get along with diverse personalities.
  • Must possess good communication and presentation skills, both oral and written required.
  • Must possess ability to proactively identify and resolve problems in a timely manner while gathering and analyzing relevant data skillfully.
  • Must possess ability to establish credibility and be decisive but be able to recognize and support the organization’s preferences and priorities.
  • Must possess a professional, tactful, and flexible and have the ability to conduct duties with discretion.

 

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements – 

  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard if required performing the essential job functions.
  • Ability to read and interpret a document.
  • Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions.
  • Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 20 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department an “undue hardship” then the employee must be accommodated; hence, omitting lifting as a physical requirement.
