*Your Role: *
The Contract Negotiator role will report directly to the Leader of Operational Procurement – which consists of P2P and Contracting within Procurement.
This position will require expert level of contract clause development, negotiation, and ability to complete the end-to-end procurement process (request to Contract signature/PO). In this role, this individual will also provide subject matter expertise on projects to identify operational efficiencies and/or input to automation opportunities to enhance the overall procurement process. Expectation is this role requires the knowledge and use of tools throughout the end-to-end procurement process. They may be called upon to assist and provide guidance to other team members to enhance their knowledge in contracting, negotiations, and the end-to-end procurement processes.
Contract Negotiation means the Operational Procurement Lead will coordinate activities with business users and external departments to resolve issues, provide workaround options, ensure business users are trained and utilizing the tools to drive compliance and gain efficiencies. Forms, leads, and coordinates project teams for large projects (highly visible). Also consults on impacts to Sourcing processes and/or systems, develops the solution based on the business requirements. Exercises consultative judgment and latitude in obtaining results. Resolves complex issues in creative and effective ways. Works with senior level management to devise and execute strategy for system improvements. Expectation of this role is to be an expert at all the Sourcing applications.
- Your work: *
- Comply with Procurement Policy, Internal Control Standards, and Procurement best practices.
- Oversees day-to-day procurement activities in support of the assigned Procurement Service Requests
- Develops and executes master agreements, SOWs/Orders, amendments, and contract addenda.
- Manages contracting processes (i.e., strategy, planning, negotiations, contracting, operationalization, and building in supplier management and DEI).
- Supports the implementation, adoption, and compliance of Procurement best practices.
- Drives continuous improvement efforts to enhance and streamline contracting processes and improve contracting templates and contract clauses.
- Interfacing with Category Sourcing to support alignment on strategies and contracting requirements.
- Develops fundamentally sound and fit for purpose contracts by applying knowledge of contract law and in accordance with guidance, practices, and requirements.
- Implements new contracts by uploading contracts into the Contracts Repository and ensuring effective transition of contract terms to business stakeholders.
- Performs analysis of quantitative spend data to draw conclusions and enable informed decisions.
- Resolves contract issues (pricing, quality, timing, claims, liens, etc.) in coordination with business stakeholders.
- Supports and contributes to Procurement goals by providing the expertise necessary for development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of leading contracting and sourcing processes and standards.
- Manages stakeholder communications regarding Procurement process changes.
- Contracts: *
- Expert in the appropriate use of the various forms of contractual documents and their structure.
- Applies advanced understanding of the concepts of contract law.
- Identifies issues and applies appropriate level of risk mitigation.
- Incorporates complex business/technical requirements into agreements.
- Develops contracts that can be effectively “operationalized” and put into practice (ease of implementation).
- Directs and mentors others in development of complex, high risk, contracts.
- Negotiations:*
- Develops and proposes effective negotiation strategies which include educating and preparing the internal team to deal with supplier negotiation tactics.
- Effectively influences and leads team of stakeholders, senior leadership, and executives to build consensus on contract negotiation objectives.
- Responsible for leading and managing complex and/or contentious negotiation sessions with clients and suppliers.
- Influences clients and suppliers toward an ideal solution in the event of an impasse.
- Identifies risks associated with contract terms and develops strategy to effectively mitigate impact to the company.
- Sourcing Process:*
- Expert knowledge of market conditions and sourcing best practices (seven step process) and how they are effectively applied.
- Advise clients on effective application of sourcing processes. Often provides alternative solutions to contracting and/or demand management that the business may have not fully explored previously.
- Ensure compliance with company sourcing and contract policies.
- Required Experience, Education and Skills*
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 12+ years of Strategic Sourcing/Procurement process knowledge and/or experience in an administrator role with related tools
- 8+years Project Management certification or equivalent experience managing large scale projects.
- What would make us excited about you?*
- Coupa experience and other related Procurement tools is highly preferred.
- Must have excellent communication skills.

- Uses expert knowledge of strategic sourcing technologies and client needs to recommend appropriate action. Must have in- depth knowledge of all strategic sourcing technologies and their applications and business processes to support all strategic sourcing and key stakeholders outside of sourcing (supplier portal, sourcing, contract lifecycle, supplier information management, risk scorecards, 3rd party risk assessments, requisitions, purchase orders, receiving, invoicing, assets, analytics, supplier on-boarding & electronic signatures) and interfaces to other CSAA applications.
- Good understanding of interactions between various systems technologies
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and successfully facilitate issue resolution, including for complex issues.
- Depth and breadth of systems knowledge and ability to provide ongoing consultation to the business users regarding various technologies.
- Ability to project manage complex cross-functional teams and projects, including management of scope, timelines, and cost.
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills.
- Experience influencing Senior Leaders with decision making and strategy.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work on multiple issues and tasks.

The national average salary range for this position is $136,800-$152,000. However, we have a location-based compensation structure. Our salary ranges vary and are calculated based on county of residence. The full salary range for this position across all the states we hire in is $123,120-$182,500. This role also includes an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, through our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP), of up to 15% of eligible pay.
