Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician – Outpatient Surgery Center (Full-Time)
Facility: OrthoIndy Hospital – Westfield, IN
Department: Sterile Processing

Position Overview

Join Team OI at OrthoIndy Hospital Westfield as a Sterile Processing Technician . This full-time role supports our outpatient surgery center by ensuring all surgical instruments and equipment are cleaned, sterilized, and ready for safe use. You’ll be part of a respected orthopedic organization recognized for patient safety and excellence.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Hours: 40 per week
Weekends/Holidays: No weekends. Closed for six major holidays annually.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, clean, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments following AAMI standards.
• Assemble and package instrument trays, packs, and kits per content lists and protocols.
• Operate autoclaves, Sterrad, and steam sterilization systems; document sterilization cycles.
• Inspect and maintain instruments and equipment, replacing or reporting damaged parts.
• Perform biological and chemical tests, maintaining accurate sterilization logs.
• Prioritize workload according to the surgery schedule and communicate effectively with surgical teams.
• Maintain work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED required
• Certification:
  • CRCST or CBSPD preferred (required within 1 year of hire; OrthoIndy provides exam support)
  • Certified Instrument Specialist preferred
• Experience: 1–2 years in sterile processing or a related setting preferred
