Under the general supervision of the Information Technology Manager I (IT Mgr I), the Information Technology Associate (IT Assoc) will serve as a Junior Web Application Developer in the California Department of Technology’s (CDT) Technology Innovation Services, Software Engineering unit. The IT Assoc will be responsible for assisting with the web application software development and providing support for streamlining customer business processes and providing consultations and business add-on functionalities to tailor customer needs. Duties include, but are not limited to designing, coding, and modifying websites, software development, performing analysis, testing, and offering software solutions.

Working Conditions

• May be required to be available after hours, on weekends and holidays and call-backs are probable.
• May be required to travel occasionally between CDT campuses/other State entities to perform assigned duties, attend meetings, attend training, and/or provide customer support.
• May be required to carry a mobile telephone and work remotely from home.
• Must maintain consistent, predictable attendance.  
• Must pass a fingerprint background criminal record check completed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) .

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Experience in web application development.
• Adequate knowledge of relational database systems, Object Oriented Programming, and web technology.
• Knowledge and understanding of Agile methodology and SDLC (System Development Life Cycle).
• Experience in UI inspection and Browser DevTools.
• Knowledge and understanding of IT production support, troubleshooting for web internet.
• Knowledge of version control software, primarily Github, or DevOps.
• Capacity to balance workload, priorities, and deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
