Summary:
This position will moor vessels to the dock, and will load, unload, and transport materials on and off vessels and/or from dock to storage site, while maintaining the functionality of the dock by performing the following duties:
Essential functions (responsibilities, tasks, supervisory needs):

Ties/unties incoming/departing vessels to moorings.
Hook up shore power, phone lines and install/adjust/remove gangway as needed.
Opens containers and inspects and sorts cargo, if applicable, before loading and unloading.
Loads and unloads materials or garbage onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand and keeps dock free of debris (cardboard, pallets, and garbage).
Loads and unloads ship cargo, using winches and other hoisting devices. Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination or signals crane or hoisting operators to move load to destination.
Packs materials onto flatbeds or into containersand installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
Keeps piers free of debris not part of a specific project.
Inspects, notes and reports damage to pier to manager for repair to include camel logs along pier and in water.
Maintains skiff and inspects/cleans and deploys/retracts oil boom as needed.
Places, removes, and dumps dumpsters and operates trash compactor.
Maintains good housekeeping in all work areas to include scrap and recycle materials.
Moves product and other materials to and from skiff and production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, ships, and containers, by hand or using trucks, tractors, and other equipment.
Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, equipment, pallets, or other containers.
Connects hoses and operates equipment to move liquid materials into and out of storage tanks on vessels.
Stacks or assembles materials into bundles or on pallets and bands bundles/pallets together.
Assembles product containers and crates, using hand tools and precut lumber.
Makes simple adjustments or repairs such as realigning belts or replacing rollers.
Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
This is a nonexempt position with an hourly rate range from $22.00 - $26.00

Minimum Requirements
Required Qualifications (education, years of experience, KSAs):
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Must have a valid state-issued driver's license.
Preferred education and experience:
Served as or training as a Shipyard Competent Person (SCP).
Must have forklift certification or be able to become certified within 30 days of employment.
Must be able to pass basic boating safety course within 60 days of employment.
Work environment (includes travel/on-call):
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Physical demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision and depth perception.
