Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) invites applications for a Clinical Research Nurse to join our Research department. This position is a full-time opportunity based out of the Kaiser Permanente Gaithersburg Medical Center in Gaithersburg, MD. This position offers a hybrid work model, with one day per week designated for remote work. Please note that the hybrid schedule is subject to change based on our clinical needs

Reporting to a Clinical Trials Research Nurse Manager , the Clinical Research Nurse will participate throughout the entire clinical trials study process. You will be assisting with the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical trials for research by pharmaceutical companies, device manufacturers, collaborating institutions, cooperative groups, and internal investigator-initiated studies.

You can expect to:

  • Recruit and evaluate clinical study subjects, schedule appointments and interviews, explain informed consent procedures and obtain written consent, and educate subjects on diagnosis and treatment plan
  • Facilitate test and procedure scheduling for subjects participating in clinical trials and/or treatment plans according to protocol design and performs essential subject assessment including accurately obtaining vital signs and collecting biological specimens
  • Coordinate regulatory visits and monitor subject responses to protocol and communicate findings to the physician and health care team and report adverse events to the PI and others as required by protocol
  • Provide instruction to potential clinical study subjects and those involved in care of subjects on aspects of subject’s care, treatments, and side-effects
  • Prepare IRB documentation as required, including initial submissions, protocol amendments, protocol modifications, Adverse Event Reports, protocol deviations, protocol violations, continuing review, and informed consent documents
  • Obtain and prepare regulatory documents required to conduct clinical trials, including: investigator CVs, financial disclosure forms, laboratory certifications, radiation safety exemptions, FDA 1572 forms, etc.

What is required:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing is required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of clinical trials and research nursing experience is required
  • Current Registered Nurse license in appropriate jurisdiction(s) covered by the service area to which assigned
  • Ability to obtain Research Professional certification within two (2) years of hire (e.g., Society of Clinical Research Associates (SoCRA) or Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP)
  • Ability to maintain meticulous records for clinical trials and research projects, including case report forms, regulatory documents, correspondence, etc.
  • Ability to interact on a scientific level with medical staff, physicians, and representatives of national and pharmaceutical groups
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and in self-directed manner
  • Candidates must either currently live in or be willing to relocate to the Washington D.C., Maryland, or Virginia area
  • Must provide documentation of the Covid vaccine 2-dose series (or J&J 1-dose) prior to October 1, 2023, or documentation for 1-dose of the most current Covid vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) as a condition of employment. Must provide documentation for the influenza vaccine as a condition of employment.
