Overview Clinical Research Assistant responsible for the coordination and oversight of clinical research protocols investigating hematology malignancies (hairy cell leukemia), primarily in observational studies, within the Division of Hematology (IM). Coordinates clinical research activities to identify and assess patient eligibility for participation; discusses research studies with patients and family members; obtains informed consent and assists with IRB submissions. Collaborates with an interdisciplinary research team within the Division of Hematology, OSUWMC, and external partners; ensures data collection and reporting are appropriate, participates in internal and external quality reviews, and verifies data integrity. Responsibilities Coordinate and oversee clinical research protocols investigating hematology malignancies (hairy cell leukemia), primarily in observational studies. Identify and assess patient eligibility for participation in clinical research studies. Discuss research studies with patients and their family members; obtain informed consent. Assist with IRB submissions and ensure compliance with IRB requirements. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary research team within the Division of Hematology, OSU Wexner Medical Center, and external partners. Ensure necessary data is collected and reported; generate reports and reviews to verify data validity and integrity. Participate in internal and external quality reviews and assist with external quality assurance and control reviews by IRB or sponsors. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in biological sciences, health sciences, or another medical field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Knowledge of medical terminology desired. Clinical research certification from an accredited certifying agency desired. Computer skills with experience using Microsoft software applications desired. Successful completion of a background check required; pre-employment physical and/or drug screen may be requested.
