JOB DESCRIPTION

The cable assembler builds cables with MIL connectors, wire harnesses, and small mechanical parts. Must be familiar with military and industry standards.

Key Tasks:

• Assemble and test cables and sub-assemblies.
• Understand and follow detailed drawings and instructions.
• Use hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and fixtures.
• Assemble fiber optic cables.
• Connect wires to circuit boards and components.
• Mount parts in jigs or fixtures.
• Crimp, screw, weld, solder, or secure parts to assemble devices.
• Use test equipment like multimeters.
• Solder and de-solder surface-mount and through-hole components.
• Inspect parts for defects and rework if needed.
• Follow safety procedures when handling chemicals and tools.
• Record production and inspection details.
• Provide basic training to other assemblers.
• Route and attach wires and cables.
• Install components such as switches and connectors.
• Test finished units for functionality and repair if necessary.

Important Qualities:

• Detail-oriented with experience in cable manufacturing.
• Able to follow detailed instructions and drawings.
• Understands electrical and mechanical assembly.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience in cable and harness assembly.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Experience with fiber optic cables is a plus.
